.SYNOPSIS...
A chilly morning is expected on Saturday, with areas of frost in the
valleys. Otherwise, warm and dry days are expected this weekend. A
Precipitation is on tap for late Monday into Tuesday and again for
Wednesday through Friday. There is greater potential for heavier
precipitation for the Wednesday/Thursday system, with the addition
of widespread gusty winds.

.DISCUSSION...FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE...
SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO
COUNTIES...

As of 9 PM, showers from earlier have dissipated across the area.
Visible satellite was showing mostly clear skies. Clouds are
expected to remain absent through the night, allowing for
radiational cooling to occur overnight. Lows Saturday morning are
expected to fall to the mid-40s along the coast and low desert; the
low 40s to low 30s in the valleys; teens to 20s in the mountains;
and low 30s in the High Desert. Areas of frost are expected to
develop in wind sheltered portions of the valleys.

From previous discussion issued at 2 PM March 7...

After a cold start on Saturday, the weekend will be dry with a
warming trend as a ridge of high pressure moves in from the west.
High temperatures on Saturday will be several degrees warmer than
today, reaching the mid to upper 60s west of the mtns. This is still
a few degrees below seasonal averages. Sunday will be about 3-5
degrees warmer, with high temperatures in the lower to mid 60s near
the coast to the upper 60s to mid 70s in the valleys, and in the mid
to upper 70s for the lower deserts.

Starting on Monday afternoon, a pair of low pressure systems will
bring more widespread precipitation for Monday afternoon into
Tuesday and again for Wednesday into Thursday. Model consensus is
for greater amounts and more widespread precipitation with the
second system for Wednesday into Thursday. The National Blend of
Models continues to show about a 20 percent chance for 3 inches or
more of rainfall/snow equivalent in the eastern San Gabriel
Mountains with the first system for Monday into Tuesday and a 50-70
percent for the second system for Wednesday and Thursday. It also
shows around a 30 percent chance for isolated rainfall exceeding 5
inches for Wed-Thu. The second system will also likely produce
stronger westerly winds, with the potential for gusts of 55-65 mph
in the mountains and deserts. Snow levels for Monday/Tuesday are
expected to stay between 5000 and 6000 ft. A colder air mass is
expected to accompany the Wednesday-Friday system, with the
potential for snow levels to drop to 4500-5000 ft by Thursday
morning.

&&

.AVIATION...
080445Z...Shallow patchy fog may develop in the valleys 10-15Z with
local vis 1 mi or less. Otherwise mostly clear with unrestricted vis
through Saturday evening.

&&

.MARINE...
No hazardous marine conditions are expected through Wednesday
afternoon. Southwest to west winds with gusts in excess of 20 kt
likely Wednesday night into Friday, creating conditions hazardous to
small craft.

encouraged to report significant weather conditions.

&&

.SGX WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
